Anxiety gripped Al Ahly fans ahead of their clash against Al Mokawloon Al Arab, following the sudden departure of young midfielder Ahmed Nabil “Koka” from the pre-match warm-ups due to an unexpected injury. However, the hours that followed brought positive updates that eased the fears of the Red Castle’s supporters.
According to a report by El Watan Sport, Koka suffered severe back pain while taking the pitch for warm-ups. This prompted the coaching staff to immediately withdraw him from the starting lineup to prevent any aggravation of the injury. He was urgently transferred to a nearby medical center near Cairo International Stadium for immediate X-rays and examinations.
Reports broadcast on Al Ahly TV confirmed that the initial test results were highly reassuring and caused no major concern. The medical team has scheduled a comprehensive examination for Tuesday morning to outline his rehabilitation program and determine the timeline for his return to group training.
These reassuring medical updates coincided with a hard-fought victory for the Red Giants, who defeated the “Mountain Wolves” 1-0 thanks to a late header from Moroccan winger Achraf Bencharki in the second round of the Capital Cup. With this win, Al Ahly maintained a perfect record despite the unexpected absences.
