The Spanish coach “Luis de la Fuente,” the head coach of the Spanish national team, has settled the race for the best of 2026 after “France Football” magazine announced his winning of the Best Men’s Coach award. This was part of the Ballon d’Or ceremony held at the London Palladium theater in the British capital on Monday evening, as reported by journalist Hadeer Amin.
The crowning of the captain of “La Roja” came after an exceptional career, crowned by winning the World Cup in the United States last July, following a thrilling final victory over Argentina. He succeeded his compatriot Luis Enrique, who won the award in its previous edition. The final list saw fierce competition among five of the most prominent coaching minds who led their teams to the podiums:
After receiving the award, De la Fuente said: “Winning this award is a great honor. Just being on the list of nominees was an achievement in itself. I would like to congratulate the other nominees. This award belongs to the entire group, to this great team and the players present with me here. It is an honor for me to coach you. I have the best coaching staff in the world.”
He added: “I would also like to thank the Royal Spanish Football Federation, the sports director of Lausanne, my agency, and finally, I dedicate this award to my family, to those who are with us today, and to those who have passed away. I conclude with a quote from Marcus Aurelius: individual success makes us visible, while collective success makes us invincible.”
