Growing doubts surround the future of English international fullback Trent Alexander-Arnold at Real Madrid, following his repeated absence from the starting lineup and diminishing tactical role in recent weeks.
According to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, the player has become one of the biggest casualties of Real Madrid’s recent tactical shifts. The repositioning of Fede Valverde to right-back, alongside the reliance on Denzel Dumfries as a preferred alternative, has severely restricted the English star’s regular playing time.
Alexander-Arnold had hoped this season would serve as his true breakthrough in Madrid after a primary year marred by setbacks and injuries-most notably a severe muscle injury sustained against Athletic Bilbao-especially since he was among the few squad members who completed the entire summer pre-season training.
However, matchday reality has dictated a different path. The English fullback’s role has gradually diminished as the season progresses, limiting him to just 7 appearances out of Real Madrid’s 13 matches, with only 4 starts. He remained an unused substitute on six other occasions, failing to make a distinct mark on the pitch.
