Arab football fans received unexpected news after it was officially decided to postpone the anticipated match between Al-Nassr Saudi and its Emirati counterpart Al-Wasl, which the audience was eagerly awaiting tomorrow evening, Monday, at the Al-Nassr Park stadium in Riyadh, as part of the AFC Champions League elite competitions.
According to reports, the Asian Football Confederation decided to postpone the match to a later date, confirming in its statement that it will reveal the timing and alternative date at an appropriate time, without settling on a specific date until this moment. This decision came at a critical time when both parties are looking to adjust their course and escape the cycle of fluctuating results; Al-Nasr stands in eighth place in the Western Region league standings, with three points collected from a single victory, while it suffered a heavy loss of four goals to nil against Al-Ain from the UAE.
On the other hand, Al-Wasl is in a very complicated situation, occupying the fourteenth position after failing to score any points due to their setbacks in the first two rounds against Al-Qadisiyah and Al-Ahli. The new tournament regulations stipulate that the top eight teams from the western and eastern groups will advance to the Round of 16, before the focus shifts to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which will host the decisive final stages starting from the quarter-finals in a gathering format, during the period from April 23 to early May 2027.
