The atmosphere inside Zamalek Club is heating up due to a series of sudden disciplinary crises, as Angolan professional “Chico Panza” faces the risk of the harshest financial penalty in the club’s history, following violations and transgressions attributed to him during the white team’s stay in the Rwandan capital, Kigali. This situation puts immense pressure on the management and coaching staff at a sensitive time in the competitions.
According to a source within Zamalek, the club officials have decided to refer the Angolan player to an official investigation session in the coming hours to clarify the circumstances of his actions in Rwanda, in preparation for imposing a financial penalty described as potentially the largest in the white team’s records. The initial inclination of the administrative body was to postpone any punitive measures until after the continental matches were concluded. However, the seriousness of the situation expedited the opening of the investigation file and the imposition of discipline without delay.
The troubles of the mission do not end there, as the Banza crisis added to the tense scene that erupted immediately after the match against the Rwandan army, when three players left the team’s residence to spend an evening out without prior permission from the supervisors, namely (Ahmed Fattouh, Mostafa El Zanaty, and Ahmed Sherif).
This incident caused widespread discontent among football officials, prompting them to impose a strict financial penalty of 500,000 pounds on each of the three players mentioned, along with a final warning emphasizing the application of the utmost severity against any future misconduct.
Despite the numerous administrative problems, Zamalek managed to secure a spot in the group stage of the African Champions League, repeating their victory over the Rwandan army team with a 1-0 win in the return match in Cairo, mirroring the same result from the first leg to qualify with an aggregate score of 2-0, thanks to striker Ahmed Sherif.
