Arsenal continued their fierce pursuit of the Premier League title, overcoming the challenge of their guest Everton with a score of 2-0 in the match held at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon, as part of the eighth round of the Premier League.
The home team entered the match with a clear attacking intent to settle matters early, which was indeed achieved in the seventh minute after the start of the whistle. Ezri Konsa took advantage of a defensive scramble inside the penalty area following a corner executed by Martin Ødegaard that rebounded off the crossbar and then the striker Viktor Gyökeres. Konsa followed up with a shot that settled into the net, announcing the first goal of the match.
Despite the attempts of the visitors to return to the match, the Gunners tightened their defensive grip until the sixty-eighth minute, which brought the goal that confirmed the victory. The Brazilian defender Gabriel Magalhães rose to meet a precise cross sent by Ben White, directing it with a powerful header that found the back of the net.
With this result, Arsenal climbed to 21 points, sharing the top of the table with Manchester City, which remained in first place only due to goal difference after stumbling against Aston Villa. Meanwhile, Everton remained in ninth place with ten points.
