Al Ahly SC’s management has renewed its interest in signing Algerian defender Achraf Abada from USM Alger to bolster the team’s backline during the upcoming winter transfer window in January.
According to exclusive statements published by Kora Plus, intermediaries recently reached out to the 27-year-old center-back to gauge his willingness to wear the Red Castle shirt. The Egyptian club’s hierarchy holds a clear desire to secure his services, following previous links to the player that never progressed to the final signature.
The main obstacle to completing the deal lies in Abada’s contractual situation with USM Alger, as his current contract runs until the summer of 2029 and contains no buyout clause for a unilateral termination. Consequently, Al Ahly’s officials will have to open direct and formal negotiations with the Algerian club to purchase the remainder of his contract and agree on a transfer fee.
These rapid moves by Al Ahly come as the technical staff seeks to address defensive vulnerabilities and restructure the backline-especially given the complicated contract renewal negotiations with defender Yasser Ibrahim, who is evaluating outside offers for a new challenge away from the club. Meanwhile, Moroccan defender Achraf Dari has gradually re-entered the plans of head coach Lhoussaine Ammouta, returning to regular action to help restore balance to the Red Giants’ defense.
