The Algerian Professional League is experiencing a wave of drastic changes that have affected the coaching positions in a record time. The Tunisian coaching school found itself out of the top clubs’ calculations one after another within just one week, in a scene that reflects the immense pressures and fluctuations of the local competition.
And “Mounir El Kbir” began this series of rapid departures after the management of CS Constantine decided to terminate the contractual relationship with him, following a disappointing start that did not meet the aspirations of the fans or the goals of the club. The team, under his supervision, managed to collect only 7 points out of 18 in six rounds, recording two wins, one draw, and three heavy losses, the worst of which was the defeat against ES Sétif by five goals, and Olympique de Médéa by three goals, culminating in a resounding home loss against Chabab El Abiar by four goals. The management, led by Tarek Arama, was compelled to activate the penalty clauses to unilaterally terminate the contract after the failure of amicable resolution attempts.
In a surprising turn of events, “Nabil Maaloul” chose to end his tenure with Chabab Belouizdad with an individual decision, without waiting for an administrative decision. This came immediately after the thrilling summit match against USM Alger, which ended in a 2-2 draw. The match witnessed high tension and extensive refereeing controversies, including the awarding of four penalty kicks and two red cards, one of which was directed at Maaloul himself for protesting against referee Mostafa Ghorbal’s whistle.
The atmosphere does not seem more stable within the halls of CR Belouizdad, as the end of Khaled Ben Yahia’s tenure has become a matter of time, despite his recent record that saw him crowned with the local league title in the past season and securing a spot in the group stage of the African Champions League after overcoming Nigeria’s Enyimba.
The tension between Ben Yahia and the Mouloudia fans escalated, as they directed harsh criticism toward his tactical approach and demanded his departure even with continental victories. This continuous fan pressure, along with what the coach considered a lack of adequate administrative protection and support, and the strained relationship with the club officials, led him to make the decision to step back and put an end to his adventure in the capital.
