The official Real Madrid channel ignited the atmosphere of the highly anticipated El Clásico match against traditional rival Barcelona, just hours before the match scheduled to take place at the Camp Nou stadium as part of the Spanish league.
According to the Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo,” the media platform of the royal club preempted the official announcement of the match’s officiating crew by launching a fierce criticism campaign, showcasing a wide archive of previous officiating cases involving both teams, whether in their direct encounters or against other clubs in La Liga.
The television coverage focused on crucial decisions that included red cards, disallowed goals, and penalty kicks, considering that the royal team always pays the price for adverse decisions compared to Barcelona. The channel’s report stated: “The conclusion is clear, the referees’ treatment of Barcelona differs from their treatment of Real Madrid, and our club ends up being the most affected party. The refereeing situation for Barcelona has been excellent in El Clasico matches, and even before them, as seen in recent weeks.”
The intensity of the attack reached the point of accusing the system of providing special facilitation to the Catalan team, describing the on-field decisions as falling under the category of “refereeing on demand.” The VAR room did not escape the same criticism after it was pointed out that there is a “video on demand” technology that serves the interests of the Blaugrana.
The white station concluded its report by pointing out that the competitor enters the Sunday match surrounded by a refereeing atmosphere completely different from the pressures faced by Real Madrid, in a move interpreted by observers as an early pressure tactic on the refereeing committee to ensure a strict and neutral management of the anticipated summit.
