The battle for the top of the Spanish league has intensified after Real Madrid snatched an exciting victory against their traditional rival Barcelona with a score of 2-1, in the top match of the tenth round held at the “Spotify Camp Nou” stadium.

The starting whistle blew with remarkable attacking enthusiasm, as Arda Güler threatened the home team’s goal with a shot that hit the crossbar in the 5th minute. Anthony Gordon quickly responded with two consecutive attempts, the first of which was confidently saved by goalkeeper Andriy Lunin. The intensity continued as Güler forced the goalkeeper into a difficult save to deflect a powerful shot in the 17th minute, while Raphinha’s shot grazed the post. Kylian Mbappé missed a golden opportunity after a precise pass that he put over the goal.

And four minutes before the end of the first half, Real Madrid opened the scoring after a quick attack led by Diomande and a cross that confused Barcelona’s defense. The ball hit Kylian Mbappe and went into the net. Barcelona tried to respond quickly through Lamine Yamal, who strangely missed a clear chance inside the penalty area, while Lunin continued his brilliance by stopping Rodri’s shot, ending the first half with the visitors leading by one goal to none.

In the second half, Barcelona imposed intense pressure, which paid off in the 61st minute when Raphinha took advantage of a precise through ball from Pedri to score, leveling the match. Gerard Martin almost doubled the score with a precise header, but Lunin made a fantastic save. Güler and Yamal responded with attempts that were unsuccessful as the match approached its final moments.

And when the match was heading toward a draw, Real Madrid struck with a quick counterattack in the 87th minute, during which Camavinga passed a decisive ball to Mbappe, who skillfully placed it in the net, giving his team the killer winning goal. The Merengues tightened their defensive lines in the remaining moments, allowing the referee to blow the final whistle. With this result, Barcelona’s points remained at 27, keeping them at the top of the standings, just two points ahead of second-placed Atletico Madrid. Meanwhile, the Royal team reduced the gap by moving up to 24 points in third place.
